She was nervous in the beginning but she nailed it.
1I love ellen she is great....She looked good too...her hair always looks good...
2Ellen was so funny, great opening.
3This year's opening by Ellen was short and sweet. Overall they are doing something new, shaking it up a bit, with more bite sized entertainment numbers, and by altering the structure of how the show had played out in recent years. We went through a bunch of more technical categories to start, and finally at 9:20 EST they bang out one of the supporting categories. The whole thing is playing out more like a 70's variety show with all the musical numbers -- like how 'bout that Ferrel/Black/Reilly "Comedian at the Oscars" number! And then the sound effects choir. I'm impressed with the presentation -- it seems more intelligent. The savvy intro with actors, directors, artists and technicians interviewed on the white background was like an Apple computer add. Thus Ellen really fits this vibe/aesthetic.
And now LEO and GORE!!!
4Very entertaining.

5Ellen is always great! Love her
6Well, to be honest, I thought it was great until that Al Gore joke. then I turned. I will check out the results in the morning!

Why don't you wear the face you have when I am not around?
The J-Hud/Gore comparison joke? Come on, that was funny...whatever.
8It was fine. I was a little nervous for her if she can pull her jokes off but it was entertaining.
9Yes the Jhud/gore comparison. funny, but i stop watching shows when any sort of political jokes are made out of place, and this includes conerts. obvi no one went/tuned in to the Academy Awards to hear political jokes..atleast not me. just a personal preference and no one has to agree. Up until then i thought she was funny and doing a great job though

I think she did great...I'm really liking her as a host. She is genuinely funny, without trying too hard (in most cases anyway).
12I'm going to be the odd one out and say... it sucked. I wasn't laughing at all. I love to laugh, but she was annoying and trying way too hard, and she was dragging it on and onnn, it was like, "Ok music, cut in now and cut of this boring HOST so we can see some gold guys already!" Whose idea was it for her to be host?!

True but Al was a nominee what else was she supposed to joke about with him. The internet gag is old. Lighten up a little.
14I was sleeping while the Oscars were on but I'm going to watch the rep.
15Loved it! Ellen was hilarious! I hope she does this again next year. They're onto a winner with Ellen.
16Love it! She was funny! I like when she forced Steven Spielberg to take her picture with Clint Eastwood...
17She is a funny lady.
18Ellen was funny...very very funny! It was nice for a change to have a host that makes me laugh in between!
19I thought it was really funny, and I really liked the J Hud/Al Gore joke. It was refreshing that she wasn't trying to be controversial.
20Ellen did a good job for her first time out. I love her and was totally pulling for her. I think there are a lot of constraints hosting a show like that, so if she did it again, she'd have even more of a handle on all of that. But she was relaxed and made me laugh here and there, which is all I want from the host anyway. I'm more there to see who wins.
21I am just after watching the highlights of the Oscars. Ellen did a good job opening the show.
