The Oscars is the biggest event of the year in Hollywood. The time where everyone pulls out all the stops: the gowns, the hair, the makeup, the jewelry... but wait, this year, where was all the jewelry? One trend I noticed was bare necks on the red carpet and it almost made these women look like they were missing something. I love seeing what jewels people wear just as much as I love to see which designer dress they are wearing; so I have to ask, where was all the bling?

Vero Moda
Max Mara
Aftershock
I think Reese is the only one who couldve done better with a necklace. Many of the other gowns are already sparkly/metallic and a necklace (in addition to the earrings) would be too much.
But Reese looks so great I dont notice the bare neckline as a negative.
1reese looks so good
2I like the move toward clean necklines and big earrings. In most of these cases I think necklaces would've been overkill with all the hair and makeup working as an accessory too.
3I think everyone was going for the old Hollywood look. Simple and elegant. It's nice to not see everyone dripping in bling for a change.
Who am I kidding, I love bling!
4I agree with crispet1.
5I think most of these dresses didn't need the necklace (especially Reese with all that long hair). I think they made the right choice to keep it classy and understated, especially Helen Mirren
6I like the bare neck for a change.
7I'm with the majority of you ladies - I think a bare neckline looks very fresh and pretty. I love the move towards earrings and no necklaces, esp since it lets the bodice of the dress take center stage.
8I think that reese could have worn a really sparkly necklace and got away with it- although she looked amazing anyway.
